So smooth and delicious!
I use this to make tamale casserole in my crockpot. It’s a family hit. Everybody loves it and way healthier than using flour tortillas or non-organic corn tortillas.

It is usually very fine, which is great for tortilla
Updated Review 3/30/2017: Masa is still not as fine as I'd like but the packaging has improved immensely with a zip close bag. My masa also came double wrapped in another bag which I like just in case the bag did break open. At the end of the day, this is great masa with a really good flavor and blows bobs red mill and just about any other largely produced masa out of the water. I'll stick with 4 stars and if they can make the grind even finer then 5 stars!Original review: I have ordered this item at least 5 times now. It is usually 5 stars, but the fineness of the masa is now varying in consistency. It is usually very fine, which is great for tortilla, but several times now I have received this product and it is like they didn't even bother to grind it properly through the molino/corn grinder. It is literally almost like cornmeal(not good at all for tortilla or anything for that matter except maybe cornbread). On top of that, my most recent order had two bags, both were ripped open, they even had an exterior bag and those bags had holes in them. I really like this product when it is the right stuff, fine powdering consistency, not ripped open, and I will totally update this review but this producer needs to get their act straight, real masa is fine and easy to work with, this is just cornmeal consistency, which trust me, you do not want.gm

Holy grail of tortilla.
I have been using a different brand and I have found the one I will never change from. When I opened this bag it smelled different. It smells fresh and like a corn tortilla. It is stronger in smell than my previous more processed version. I loove the flavor and texture. Making my own tortillas is my favorite. This is easy and the dough holds together. I can even make them in advance and they dont crumble when heated if you know what I mean. I will always be buying this brand from now on. I didnt think brand mattered and it does. Reading other reviews makes me excited to try other recipes. Tortillas are a staple but I can see how this texture would add a lot to many dishes.

Sacred food. Tastes good.
This American ancestral food is both tasty and nourishing. I tend to be lazy and just make a quick porridge of the stuff, but I have also had great success in making tortillas. Despite what some people say, this is nearly essential for most Americans, it is the sustaining crop of our land. Research corn and you'll see modern health weirdos saying its acidic and creates fungal problems. For valid reasons...The problem often with acidity is overconsumption of animal products and caffeine. The fungal stuff...Well, that is a general concern with the storage techniques of mass produced corn products....This I isn't really a huge conpany...And I suppose I avoid it if you find it as a temporary hindrance with your health. Minerals, raw greens, veggies, fruits, algaes, and probiotics all are very alkalizing and a great contrast to grains.So- experience this product and understand your ancestral connection to the US land. Stay in touch folks!I alternate between this and the blue masa which is higher in antioxidants and proteins.

Made beautiful and delicious tortillas!
I used this to make corn tortillas because I thought the color would be fun, not to mention whatever extra antioxidant boost you get from the blue-purple colors. I used a very basic recipe of 1-3/4 cup masa mixed with a little over 1 cup of hot water and some salt; rested after kneading wrapped in plastic wrap for 30 minutes, then kneaded briefly and used a tortilla press and cast iron skillet to shape and then cook.I had read some reviews that said this wasn't very finely ground, so I did shake it through a mesh strainer first. There really was only a small amount that wasn't fine enough to make it through, so next time I will likely just use it as is. They were a beautiful shade of purple when cooked, and were absolutely delicious. Very fresh and flavorful. I am especially pleased to buy an organic (and thus non-GMO) corn product as I know that is becoming a rarity. I will definitely buy again when we run out.I want to add that this is only my second or third time making tortillas though I am an experienced cook otherwise...I have previously used Bob's Red Mill masa harina and found this product to perform equally well.
