Love this item. Have used it before and will buy it again.

Taste is okay, not very strong. I'll go with a more fermented one next time.

Good value for the money was very pleased with this product it was my first time to try it.

I lived in Nagasaki prefecture on Kyushu Island, Japan, for almost four years. I learned to love authentic miso during that time. After moving back to America I found it difficult to find miso that tasted authentic let alone miso that didn't have a bunch of junk on the ingredient list. This miso is very authentic and is not chalked full of trash ingredients just: Water, Rice, Whole Soybeans, Sea Salt, Sweet Potato Syrup and Sugar Cane Alcohol.This miso is very warm with that textbook "umami" flavor. It is a little sweet, but the sweetness does not harm the warm flavor.The packaging was very solid. I bought it for a Japanese meal on camping trip and it endured several miles on water, on trails and general rough treatment.I combined this with some dried shiitake mushroom, dried wakame sea veggies, ahi tuna pouches, rice noodles and some bonito fish flakes and the dish was amazing as a camp meal!I hope this helps you make an informed decision!~MahaloMy only gripe is a minor one because I am a cheapskate... The price per ounce is a little high for my blood. I would only get this on a special occasions.

Yummy miso paste in a no fuss squeeze package.

This miso is great and I love the deep dark flavor this miso has. I use it to make honey miso salmon and chicken and it is amazing. I usually use the white miso but decided to give this one a try and I am glad I did. With it being made with brown rice it has a super nutty flavor that just goes so well on chicken. I loved it and the flavor it gave. I will be buying more of this to try in other dishes as well.I also love the packaging too. It comes in a convenient squeeze tube like apple sauce so it makes it easy to portion out how much you want and then reseals to be put in the fridge and it doesn't take up a lot of room. Great product with great packaging.

This might be a good purchase if you're trying to use miso as a flavoring, but it took a whole packet to make a small pot of miso soup. There was no flavor or salt until the entire packet was used. I primarily wanted the miso for daily morning soup, I would need a 4$ packet every day to make it with this product. I think it tasted fine but there was absolutely no flavor or salt until the whole packet was used.If I was going to make a miso grilled fish or miso butter corn I would use this product, but I wouldn't recommend it for those that want to eat miso everyday.
