These work pretty well.
If you're hearing the "hum", you may want to try these on your windows at night. They aren't perfect, and I know they aren't made for this purpose necessarily, but they do help keep this sound down low enough so that you can sleep. I use them in all the windows in our bedroom. You can cut them to size, and trim the cones slightly to fit behind shutters, and stack them for sliders. Again, they aren't perfect, but they definitely help.

The price is right.
I'll never understand why foam panels are so expensive, but these do a decent job for the price range they're in. They definitely aren't Auralex; they're about one grade above a foam mattress pad. A note to those who don't understand acoustics: THESE WILL NOT SOUNDPROOF ANYTHING. They simply absorb REFLECTED sound, so while your neighbors will still hear everything they heard before, it'll sound a lot better to you inside the room. Luckily, none of my neighbors complain about my band playing loudly, so these worked perfectly to dampen a lot of the nasty reverberation we were getting.Another hint - ALWAYS get bass traps FIRST. They do 75% of the work by themselves. These types of panels are meant to be secondary help.

Exactly what I was expecting.
The best part about these is they shipped them to me already expanded. They're also a perfect shape for cutting into various shapes to get more spread out of them, and the 4 pack is literally a perfect kit for covering your first points of reflections. Just be aware they're not for keeping anything quiet. They just make your room sound better and less echo-y.

Itchy eye material
I ordered these and my eyes have been itching really badly. I left them in my car for a couple days while waiting to return them and it left a really awful smell in my car and made my eyes itch really badly when I turned on the AC. When I had to handle the foam to return them my eyes kept itching really badly after touching them too. I don't know if washing them would help with that, but after having to deal with the weird smell embedding itself in my lungs and the eye irritants, I definitely do not recommend. I was also trying to find true black foam and accidentally bought these thinking they would match my other black soundproofing material and this product is actually charcoal.

Designer Acoustic Foam For Any Sound Absorbing job.
The amount of sound absorbed is the most important thing to know and understand when purchasing these types of products. I personally love the amount of sound that is absorbed by this material. It's super easy for a permanent or temporary fixture/adhesion. To be simple, it's worth every penny but can get pretty expensive if you need to cover allot of surface area. If you have the funds it's a great investment for any studio but if your on a tyte budget I would highly recommend saving 10 or 20 bucks a month to invest in quality materials for your home studio, office or theater.

Unexpected benefits
I got these to go on the wall behind my TV when I noticed my TV sound reverberated a bit outside my house. (I like quiet and didn't want to disturb neighbors if they were on their deck.) Well, turns out the clarity of voices/what was being said sharpened dramatically for me so I don't have to turn the volume up so much. Really amazing benefit I hadn't expected or what I got them for. As an aside, I just tacked them up with sewing T pins, which is all you need and unobtrusive.

but it looks great in my studio regardless of slightly different shades
This acoustic foam works just as well as name brand foam that costs twice as much. The color isn't as consistent however, but it looks great in my studio regardless of slightly different shades. The elimination of natural reverb in the room is worth every penny and looks professional.

Really awesome for the price!
I think these are pretty good for the price and ease of setting up! They greatly helped the acoustics of my bedroom where I had one big flat open wall. I simply pinned them to the drywall with tiny pins and they do their job well! Now, they aren't professional quality, but for most people I think these are a great option!
