finally!
i have been looking for a mineral-based spf for years. i have finally found it. i have tried so many brands (costing sooooo many dollars since they're basically thrown away when they fail) but this one has what i was looking for! just zinc oxide - and non-nano sized! and a healthy percentage of it at that (20%). other ingredients are fairly well known to me - no endless list of dodgy chemicals.it is VERY creamy! i feel like i'm getting a great moisturizer & sun protection in one. my skin is so soft after applying it & stays that way the vast majority of the day, if not all day. i am in my early 60s - which has shocked more than a few dermatologists when they initially meet me - which may account a tad for my skin loving the richness of this formulation. it does NOT need a lot of rubbing to get rid of the white cream (aren't ALL sunscreens white?) non-existent aroma.no parabens, phthalates, bpa, petroleum or toxic chemicals. and its 3 oz tube is tsa airport-approved sized. you don't use much at all - i can see this tube lasting almost a year. 2016 expiration date too - not "old" when you get it.i fell back into using neutrogena pure & free baby when i couldn't find a good natural sunscreen as it was zinc & titanium dioxide based with no oxybenzone and no parabens BUT recently i noticed that the first listed ingredient was alumina, a form of aluminum, which i don't want on my skin & particularly my face for ongoing well-known dementia concerns. and they market it for BABIES!i can't say enough about thinkbaby! it is my forever sunscreen now. FINALLY! love it, love it, love it... (btw - i am NOT associated in any way with this company & a rarely do reviews on amazon - even though my ups driver is here constantly due to them - but when a product is this good, i take the time)UPDATE: june 2020 & still feel the same way about it. rare these days for a product to not cut corners in size or quality. this continues to be THE BEST!

among the best sunscreens on the market...
In the summertime protecting myself and my children from harmful effects of sun is of great importance. We all need sunlight for proper Vitamin D synthesis in our body however a 20 minute/day direct exposure (not blocked by window glass or clear plastic) is more than enough for that purpose. Anything above that starts to show the adverse effects of the sun. What are they? The most pronounced two adverse effects are premature aging of skin and skin cancer, not to mention horrible immediate redness and tenderness followed by peeling of skin which can cancel your all joy from a beach holiday. To avoid all those effects we have to take preventive measures. The most effective and the least harmful preventive measure is to avoid exposure to sun during critical hours. So if you can avoid being under direct sunlight between 10am and 3pm you are doing the best you can do.Second comes appropriate clothing and accessories. I recommend using rash guards (top part of swim suits that can block UV while not causing a big restriction.) They should be worn especially by children although I, as an adult men, got used to wearing one Speedo Men's UPF 50+ Easy Short Sleeve Rashguard Swim Tee happily . Hats and glasses are other accessories that come to my mind as preventive measures.Third comes the sunscreens. The reason I rate it below the first two is that it contains a bunch of ingredients and can readily be absorbed by body, enter blood stream or have effects in local skin tissue. Therefore it is critical to know what is in it and what it does after routine daily use. Another reason is that it may give a false safety feeling since it is not effective until 15 minutes has past after applying and the protective effect vanishes after 80 minutes.(also true for this model as written on the bottle). So not knowing these details may get you unprotected while you mistakenly believe you are safe...According to FDA website 17 ingredients are allowed to be topically applied to skin for the purpose of sun protection. External websites (including the Oz show and EWG) says 15 of them are proven endocrine distruptors which, after entering your blood stream can act as your hormones and cause imbalance, leading to different adverse effects. Oxybenzene (endocrine distruptor) and some vitamin A derivatives (claimed by some sources as carcinogenic) are the most infamous nasty chemicals among the other bad fellows that make up the list. The 'innocent' guys are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Those ingredients are believed to be relatively harmless while offering good UV protection. This particular product has 20% zinc oxide as the active ingredient. So it has an overall rating of 1 out of 10 in EWG (Environmental Working Group) website (lower number means less harmful) Zinc oxide, on that website , is rated as 2 with some minor concerns about cellular problems and bio-accumulation. Other filler ingredients are listed as harmless except dimethicone which was rated 3 due to some organ level toxicity concerns as well as environmental toxicity issues. However among the list of 462 sunscreens clearly investigated by that independent agency, this one still rates among the top products. Besides it is rated as having a good balance of UV A and UV B protection by many external websites I have searched including EWG itself. After all those general information, here comes my hands on experience after two months of use:-It is effective: No sunburn in my children after our two weeks of beach holiday. (But I have to say we have avoided the sun by staying in shade as much as possible and used protective clothing too..)-It did not cause any irritation or skin problems,it is also written on the bottle to be safe for babies over 6 months old (younger than that: check with your doctor is what it says)-It does not smell nasty. No smell apart from a mild fruity smell.-Price wise it is okay especially when considering the availability to order it through subscribe and save and get an additional upto 20% discount (at the time I bought it). (some reviewers point out bigger 6 ounce sizes are available for cheaper in external websites which might be worth considering too...)Over all, I am pretty happy about the purchase and apply it without much concern to my kids as an additional sun protection to other methods, I discussed above. Just keep in mind the instructions and re-apply regularly and you are good to go...

Great Choice After Lots of Research — Clean Ingredients, Reliable Protection
After researching a ton of baby sunscreens, I kept coming back to Thinkbaby SPF 50+ because of its clean ingredients and strong reputation — and it’s lived up to the hype.It goes on smoothly for a mineral sunscreen, leaves only a very light white cast, and feels gentle even on sensitive skin. I love that it’s made with non-nano zinc oxide and free of harsh chemicals, fragrances, and parabens. It’s also water-resistant, which is perfect for busy outdoor days.If you’re looking for a safe, effective sunscreen for your little one, this is a fantastic pick. I feel great knowing I’m putting something this clean and protective on my baby’s skin.
